The NYS Paid
Family Leave Act covers all employees of private employers in New York
State including, but not limited to, nannies, housekeepers and eldercare
providers.
Per the NYS
Paid Family Leave site...
"Paid Family Leave provides eligible employees
job-protected, paid time off to:
· Bond with
a newly born, adopted or fostered child,
· Care for
a family member with a serious health condition, or
· Assist loved
ones when a spouse, domestic partner, child or parent is deployed abroad on
active military service.”
As of 2019, eligible employees will receive up to 10
weeks paid family leave at 55% of their average weekly salary, not to exceed 55%
of the NY statewide average weekly salary. The maximum weekly benefit
for 2019 is $746.41.
In 2021, eligible employees can receive 12 weeks paid
family leave at 67% of their average weekly salary, not to exceed 67% of the NY
statewide average weekly salary.
